The Centre for Ageing Studies Receives Donation to Support Older Persons
On September 27, 2022, the Centre for Ageing Studies (CFAS) received visitors, namely, Professor Sylvester Bowie, Professor Emeritus at California State University, and Earl Lawrence, who came to make a generous donation of some assorted items to the Centre to be given to older persons.
Professor Bowie explained that the motive for showing this kind gesture was prompted after he got information about the Centre and its activities following a discussion he had with the Centre’s Director, Professor Mavis Dako-Gyeke, and Dr. Akosua Agyemang, a Management Committee Member of the Centre. He further shared that he mobilized some of his friends to donate the items, as he is firmly of the belief that the items could go a long way to address the present difficulties of some vulnerable older persons.
Additionally, Prof. Bowie pledged to be an active supporter and donor to the worthy works of the Centre. The items that were donated included a laptop, walking frames, diapers for older persons, bed sheets, clothing, briefs, medications, dental care supplies, among other. Prof. Dako-Gyeke expressed her gratitude to the donors and further assured them that the Centre would ensure that the items are delivered to deserving older persons.
